Focus on the Boccace Prize -->

The Boccace Prize is a prestigious French literary prize dedicated exclusively to the short story genre. Founded in 2011, it is organized by the association "Tu Connais la Nouvelle?" with the support of the Loiret Departmental Council.

Created in 2011, it takes its name from Giovanni Boccaccio, the 14th-century Italian writer famous for his Decameron, a foundational work of the short story genre. The Boccaccio Prize is one of the few major prizes (along with the Goncourt Prize for Short Stories) to shine a spotlight on the short story, a genre that nevertheless demands a mastery of rhythm and plot twists.

Here are the essential details concerning its prize money and current events:

Award and Prize
Amount: The winner receives a grant of €2,500.

Criteria: The prize recognizes a collection of short stories written in French and published during the previous year.

Award Venue: The prize is traditionally awarded at the Château de Chamerolles, in the Loiret region.
