Accessibility of the monument

Access

Free parking, 2 places reserved for persons with reduced mobility, approximately 25 metres from the entrance to reception and the ticket office.

Directional signage with large characters and text-image association, against a contrasting background, allowing access to information on directions.

Tactile guide strip on the ground, non-slippery and non-deformable, between drop-off point and entrance door (ribbing in positive relief detectable with cane, visually contrasting strip compared to immediate environment).

Guide dogs are welcome.

The castle stairs are fitted with handrails, vigilance strips and non-slip strips in contrasting colours if stairs are likely to be slippery.

Warning: the low luminosity of certain rooms can sometimes make reading uncomfortable for visually impaired people. Low beams (tie beams and rafters pose as obstacles) in dark places are found in the 20th century exhibition rooms.

Adapted visit tools

The room sheets in the Château's Perfume Walk and the garden panels are in large print.

Large-print room sheets are available in each file holder in the castle, along with the sheets in French and English.

The labels in the windows of the 20th century rooms are in large print.

An illuminating magnifying glass can be borrowed at reception and the ticket office.

Scenting devices add to the discovery of the Promenade des Parfums.

The Château de Chamerolles website offers audio guided tours room by room (in the “discover” section). They are accessible directly at reception and in the château vestibule in QR Codes, in French and English (on visitors' smartphones). They can be downloaded using the reception WiFi if the mobile network does not allow reading in the rooms.

Guided tours offered to groups with reservations are put together on demand. They allow the castle and its collections to be discovered in a suitably adapted way (presentations of objects in audio description form, tactile handling of objects or materials, stimulation of sense of smell for the recognising perfumes etc).

An interview with the teachers or guides upstream and on site is strongly recommended when arranging a made-to-measure visit.
