History of the Château

Located on the edge of the forest of Orléans, Château de Chamerolles has now stood for more than 600 years.

Built at the dawn of the Renaissance in Chilleurs-aux-Bois by Lancelot I du Lac, this estate remained in the family of its builder for nearly 235 years.

Its architecture has developed over time with successive owners, and the château is about to be expanded and embellished. The French Revolution and the two world wars saw the château ransacked and parts of it destroyed.

Surrounded by a park, a body of water and a Renaissance garden, the château and its imposing exterior invite visitors to enjoy a country stroll in a green setting. Also awaiting discovery is our collection of 75 varieties of roses, our vegetable gardens and our surrounding area just asking to be walked through.
