13 May 2025

Our literary festival "Tu sais la nouvelle" (You Know the Short Story) returns for its latest edition at the château on Sunday, May 25th.

But what is it?

It's a festival that will reward the best short story author of this 2025 edition. On the program:

Actors and artists await you in various rooms of the château to perform voiceovers of the texts of the five finalist authors. The day will conclude with the Boccace Prize presentation in the Halle de Chamerolles.

The day begins at 1 p.m. Until 5:30 p.m., you'll have the opportunity to listen to short stories in the rooms (times will be posted on site outside the rooms). At 6 p.m., don't miss the Boccace Prize ceremony in the Halle de Chamerolles. But what will you hear during this literary afternoon?

In the Chapel...

Reading by Juliette Stocker and Nathalie Morel
Short story taken from the collection "Les réinventions" by David Dorais, published by "L'instant même."

David Dorais brilliantly explores the themes at the heart of the literary creation process. If the author, who shapes the characters, manipulates their destiny, and plunges them into disconcerting situations, can claim to act as a true creator, what role does the reader play? The reader who accepts this proposition, who willingly accompanies often unsociable protagonists, is he or she not also complicit in this creation?

Info:

at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.

In the green room...

Reading by Aurélie Audax and Denis Lefrançois.
Short story from the collection "L'amant du mistral" by Dominique Nieznany, published by "Quadrature"

A woman, a man. Men, women. This collection is all about encounters, brushes, confrontations, and observations. Humor is present, as is lucidity. It creates a bittersweet soundtrack that sometimes makes us smile and often leaves us pensive.

Info:

at 1:45 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.

In the red living room...

Reading by Elsa and Joseph Robinne.
Short story taken from the collection: "Looking the Lion in the Eyes" by Marie-Christine Quentin, published by "L'Harmattan"

Whether carefully prepared or arising from life's accidents, the moment arrives when we must look the lion in the eye. Confront what we weren't prepared for or what we had hidden from ourselves. Seize the moment or lose ourselves.
With lightness or gravity, deep in the Amazon or in an alleyway in the Marrakech medina, on a train, behind a wall, on a beach, or on the edge of a cliff, the author invites us to share moments of suspended animation. Moments of shock after which nothing is ever the same again.

Info:

at 2:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5 p.m.

In the stables...

Reading by Eric Cénat and Lila Tamazit.
Short story taken from the collection "En un souffle" by Daniel Arglès, published by Triartis.

Birth, marriage, anniversary of a liberation or deportation, discomfort in a phone booth—these short stories capture German and French lives in moments of transition, suspension, and epiphany.
Daniel Arglès takes us on the trail of lives marked by history, both small and large. It explores summer camps and school exchanges, rebellious student lecture halls, socialism and its walls, the Cold War and exile, but also treatises on friendship, encounters and blending, and above all, what saves us: tenderness, a child, music, and writing.

Info:

1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:15 p.m.

In the kitchen...

Reading by Frants Herman and Manouchka Récoché.
Short story from the collection "Monsieur Hertz Lives in the False Ceiling of His Office" by Philippe Benhamou, published by "Palio"

What happens behind closed office doors? What if your colleagues aren't who you think they are?
In these short stories, Philippe Benhamou paints a portrait, both funny and sad, of the small world of office life. Far from open spaces, participatory management, and matrix organizations, he scrapes the dust and brings to light wounded, repressed, and hidden personalities.

Info:

2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.
